The Open Credit Network has an ambitious mission: To build a trust-based, democratically governed UK mutual credit system as a model that can be replicated to catalyse the growth of a global collaborative economy that nourishes people and planet.

Working on a volunteer basis, with zero funding, in a small team of three people (with invaluable pro-bono help from a coding team), we’ve made some great strides towards the mission. Since August 2018 we have:

  • Built a great team of Advisors
  • Tested a proof of concept
  • Developed and delivered our Alpha software
  • Released our software as open source code
  • Written a ‘plain english’ Membership Agreement
  • On-boarded over 150 businesses into our directory
  • Signed up our first Trading Members, and
  • Facilitated the first trades in mutual credit via our Alpha software

Now, the OCN team is looking to expand the co-op and to bring on board more members of the Development Crew to help grow the project. We have a draft business plan and can see a route to financial stability but we need to grow our Membership in order to get there. The roles below are therefore volunteer, collaborator positions, with full voting rights (one member one vote) in the co-op, after a successful probationary period. As key contributors to the project the Development Crew will be first in line for paid roles once the project is funded.

We are ideally looking for UK-based people, who are able to commit to at least one day’s work per week as a minimum.

Full training will be provided – but a basic understanding of mutual credit and / or a background in sales / marketing would be an advantage.
